One of the most popular ways to do apparel printing is screen printing, which is, the process in which the passing of ink goes through a mesh or screen that is stretched out on a frame. A stencil is used to sketch your desired graphic design or logo. Every color is put through the screen separately and applied evenly to create the final desired look. The most important process of a successful screen print is the separation of colors.
Screen printing also known as silk printing is one preferred and very popular method of printing promotional clothing items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, vests etc and can be done on a variety of materials ranging from cotton to silk to polyester.
Did you know that you can even do screen printing on promotional items such as beer koozies? Typically the ink in screen printing is applied thicker than other styles of printing which allows for more vibrant colors, even on those dark colored shirts you ordered. Did you know that for every location you have on a shirt, it requires a different mesh screen? Just like different colors require different screens for printing, so do different locations.
If you are bringing in your own design the ideal formats for screen print is a vector file such as .ai or .eps. If those are not available a high resolution (300 +dpi) jpg or tif will also work.
